Earned Paid Leave (EPL)
Nevada law (NRS 608.0197) requires employers with 50 or more employees to provide paid leave that may be used for any reason.
• Accrual rate: Employees earn 0.01923 hours of paid leave for every hour worked — approximately 40 hours (5 days) per year for a full-time employee. • Accrual begins immediately upon employment; however, Great Beginnings Academy requires a 90-day waiting period before paid leave may be used. • Paid leave may be used for any reason — it is not restricted to illness or caregiving. • Unused paid leave carries over to the next benefit year, up to a maximum of 40 hours. • Employees must make a reasonable effort to notify their supervisor of foreseeable leave in advance. • Leave must be requested orally or in writing through your normal scheduling process. • Paid leave is compensated at the same hourly rate and with the same benefits as regular hours worked. • Documentation may be required after 3 or more consecutive days of absence.
Additional Holiday Pay
Per Nevada, the centers will be closed for the additional following days. The Holiday Policy in the GBA Employee Manual still applies. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Juneteenth, Columbus Day, Nevada Day, Black Friday, and the day after Christmas.
Required Documentation
All Nevada staff are required to complete the following before or immediately upon hire:
• Background check and fingerprinting: All employees must be fingerprinted and submit a background check through the Nevada Automated Background Check System (NABS) within 24 hours of hire. A Background Check Consent and Release Form must be completed. The current fee is $39.00 ($27.00 state fee + $12.00 FBI fee; $31.50 for volunteers), payable to the Nevada Department of Public Safety — verify current pricing at rccd.nv.gov, as this fee is periodically revised. Background checks are renewed every 5 years. • Employees may work under direct supervision of a qualified staff member while awaiting background check results, provided the check has been initiated and proof of initiation is on file. An employee awaiting results may never be left alone or unsupervised with children. • Minor employees (under 18): A parent or guardian must co-sign the Background Check Consent and Release Form. • TB screening: All staff are required to complete a tuberculosis (TB) screening prior to or upon hire, in accordance with Nevada child care licensing requirements (NAC 432A).

Staff Training & Professional Development
The company supports and encourages the professional growth and development of each of its employees. Additionally, to remain in compliance with Nevada's Child Care Licensing program (NAC 432A), all employees working in licensed programs must meet minimum annual training requirements.
Annual Training Requirements:
• All licensed center-based facility employees must complete a minimum of 24 hours of training per year. (Family and Group Care Home providers have a lower 15-hour annual training minimum — confirm which applies if your location is home-based.) • Annual training must include at least 2 hours in Health, Obesity, and/or Wellness topics. • Training must be approved through the Nevada Registry (nevadaregistry.org). Early childhood college courses count as 15 training hours per credit.
Where to Get Qualifying Training:
• Nevada Registry — nevadaregistry.org (browse, register for, and track approved training) • CCEI Online Training (childcareexchange.com) • Any required CACFP training • Approved early childhood college courses
Nevada Registry Profile:
All Nevada employees are encouraged to create a Nevada Registry profile at nevadaregistry.org. The Registry allows you to track training hours, explore professional development opportunities, and access scholarship information.
Wages, Overtime & Tip Policy
Nevada has several wage and hour requirements that differ from federal law. These apply to all hourly employees at Nevada locations.
• Minimum wage: $12.00/hr statewide (flat rate — no two-tier system). Verify each July 1. • Daily overtime: If your regular rate of pay is below $18.00/hr, you are entitled to overtime at 1.5x your regular rate for hours worked over 8 in a single workday. • Weekly overtime: 1.5x your regular rate for hours worked over 40 in a workweek. • 4-10 schedule exception: If you and the Company mutually agree in writing to a four-day, ten-hour schedule, daily overtime does not apply. Weekly overtime still applies if total hours exceed 40.

• Tip credit: Nevada does NOT permit a tip credit. You must be paid the full $12.00/hr minimum wage regardless of tips received.
Travel Pay — State-Specific Requirements (Nevada)
Nevada has additional travel pay requirements beyond the federal FLSA that apply to all hourly employees.
• Compensable travel time counts toward daily and weekly hour totals for overtime purposes. • Daily overtime applies to travel hours: If your regular rate is below $18.00/hr, any compensable travel hours that push your workday beyond 8 hours trigger overtime at 1.5x your regular rate. • Separate written travel rates must equal or exceed the $12.00/hr Nevada minimum wage (verify each July 1). • Donning/doffing: Time spent putting on or removing required uniforms or PPE at the work site is compensable and counts toward daily and weekly hours, per NRS 608.016 (as amended by 2025 Special Session S.B. 8). • Record retention for travel and all payroll records: minimum 2 years. • Note: Nevada's alignment with the federal Portal-to-Portal Act, enacted via NRS 608.016 as amended by 2025 Special Session S.B. 8 (signed November 20, 2025, following the Nevada Supreme Court's decision in Amazon.com Services, LLC v. Malloy), sunsets October 31, 2029 unless extended by the Legislature. This policy will be reviewed before that date.
Required Workplace Postings
Nevada employers are required to post the following notices in a conspicuous location at each worksite:
• Nevada Minimum Wage bulletin and Daily Overtime bulletin (updated when the rate changes — verify each July 1). • Nevada Paid Leave bulletin (prepared and updated by the Nevada Labor Commissioner). • Nevada Equal Rights Commission (NERC) Equal Opportunity / Anti-Discrimination notice (NRS 613.4377).
– Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Victim's Leave bulletin (NRS 608.0198).
– “Rules to Be Observed By Employers” bulletin (general wage/hour notice).
• Nevada state-plan OSHA “Safety and Health Protection on the Job” poster (Nevada runs its own state OSHA plan under NRS Chapter 618).
Contact HR if you need updated posting materials for your location.
